ENERJİTEM Three-Phase NiCd Rectifier, NiCd Battery Charger, with 380 VAC input / 110 VDC output, 150 Ah, without batteries

A NiCd battery charger, for Nickel-Cadmium batteries, is an electronic device that controls current and voltage, designed to safely charge rechargeable batteries or battery packs with NiCd chemistry. For NiCd batteries to have a long service life, the charger's output values, i.e., the rectifier, must be precisely adjusted according to the battery's Ah capacity and the number of cells.

How does a NiCd battery charger work?
NiCd batteries, by their nature, require constant current charging. The charging process consists of the following stages and principles:

Constant Current Phase: The charger maintains a constant current until the battery is charged. The battery voltage gradually increases during charging.

Cell Voltage Monitoring: The nominal voltage of NiCd cells is approximately 1.2 volts. During charging, this voltage reaches 1.4V up to 1.45V per cell.

Charge Termination Methods, Delta V: When NiCd batteries reach full charge, a slight drop in voltage occurs. Smart chargers terminate charging or switch to float charge mode when a -ΔV curve, i.e., negative delta voltage, is detected.

Temperature Monitoring, ΔT / Δt: Fully charged NiCd batteries begin to convert energy into heat. Safe devices detect sudden temperature increases and cut off the current.

How should the rectifier output be according to the battery's Ah capacity?
There is a direct mathematical relationship between the Ah capacity of NiCd batteries and the output current values in Amperes and voltage in Volts in an industrial rectifier.

The Bottom Line
To charge a NiCd battery, the rectifier must have a constant current mode, and the output current should be set to 10% of the battery's Ah capacity (0.1C). The total output voltage should be determined so that it does not exceed the number of series-connected cells × 1.42V.

2-year warranty.
