ENERJİTEM Three-Phase NiCd Rectifier, NiCd Battery Charger, with 380 VAC input / 12 VDC output, 60 Ah, without batteries

A NiCd battery charger, specifically for Nickel-Cadmium batteries, is an electronic device that controls current and voltage, designed to safely charge rechargeable NiCd batteries or battery packs. For NiCd batteries to have a long operational life, the charger's output values, i.e., the rectifier's output, must be precisely adjusted according to the battery's capacity in Ampere-hours (Ah) and the number of cells.

How does a NiCd battery charger work?
NiCd batteries, by their nature, require charging with a constant current. The charging process consists of the following stages and principles:

Constant Current Phase: The charger maintains a constant current until the battery is charged. The battery voltage gradually increases during charging.

Cell Voltage Monitoring: The nominal voltage of NiCd cells is approximately 1.2 V. During charging, this voltage reaches 1.4 V to 1.45 V per cell.

Charge Termination Methods, Delta V: When NiCd batteries reach full charge, a slight voltage drop occurs. Smart chargers terminate charging or switch to float charge mode when a -ΔV curve (negative voltage delta) is detected.

Temperature Monitoring, ΔT / Δt: Fully charged NiCd batteries start converting energy into heat. Safe devices detect a sudden rise in temperature and cut off the current.

How should the rectifier's output be according to the battery's Ah capacity?
There is a direct mathematical relationship between the Ah capacity of NiCd batteries and the output current in Amperes and voltage in Volts of an industrial rectifier.

The End Result
To charge a NiCd battery, the rectifier must have a constant current mode, the output current must be set to 10% of the battery's Ah capacity, i.e., 0.1C, and the total output voltage must be set so that it does not exceed the number of series-connected cells × 1.42 V.

2-Year Warranty.
